ANCHOR CLUB - Ms. Pichardo (Chapel) and Mrs. Schmehl (Guidance)
The Anchor club is an international community service organization sponsored by Pilot International whose members are known for their dedication to the school and community. Service projects benefit such organizations as the Ronald McDonald House, St. Francis Soup Kitchen, IM Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless, and many others!
Meetings: 1st and 3rd Mondays each month, 3PM, cafetorium; 1st meeting is Sept. 21st
ART CLUB – Ms. Hocker (201)
The purpose of this club is to provide “art service” to BJS and cover some areas of art that are not covered in the regular classroom. ( i.e.Jewelry). Activities include set designs for school performances, decorating for homecoming and prom, and helping with posters and banners for other organizations.

BEST BUDDIES & DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS CLUB – Ms. Pichardo (Chapel)
The purpose of combining these two clubs is to support and create friendships with people with intellectual disabilities. Activities include Buddy visits, the Buddy Walk, and Dimes for Down Syndrome.
Meetings: every other Tuesday at 3PM in cafetorium; 1st meeting is Sept. 22nd
BIG BROTHERS / BIG SISTERS – Ms. Pichardo (Chapel)
The purpose of this club is to mentor elementary-school aged children, giving them one-on-one attention. Commitment: Members must be committed to serving for 1hour every other Thursday from 3:30-4:30PM (or every week if club decides) at Whitehouse Elementary. Travel time to site is 10 minutes each way. Members must provide their own transportation to and from the site.
BRAIN BRAWL – Mr. Mull (802)
The purpose of this club is to compete against other Brain Brawl teams. Students will meet for practice and competition.

CHAPEL CHOIR – Mr. Cummings (211)
This group is made up of vocalists and instrumentalists who rehearse in order to lead dynamic music for school liturgies and class liturgies.

The purpose of this club is to play chess!!

Do you find yourself wanting more from your computer class? Join others who share your enthusiasm about computers.

DRAMA CLUB – Mrs. Cummings (media center) and Mrs. Lee (709)
The purpose of this club is to act and create great theatre! Join this organization and attend 1-2 plays in the community this year and participate in an Improv! Workshop. Create a Victorian Christmas this semester, and put on a 1 Act play and Musical Review in the Spring.

ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB – Mr. Ruvolo (607) and Mrs. Morrow (606)
The purpose of this club is to increase school-wide awareness of local, state, national, and global environmental issues, and assist the community through environmental related participation. Activities include campus paper, plastic, and print cartridges recycling; Earth Day celebration, and sneaker recycling.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES – Ms. Pichardo (Chapel) and Mr. Saunders (426)
This nationwide club is open to any student. “Huddles” will gather student-athletes to pray, strengthen faith, and promote fellowship.

INTERACT CLUB – Mrs. Carroll (713)
The Interact club is an awesome service club sponsored by the Rotary Club. All interested students are welcome. Activities planned for the year include Career Day, Silver War, Angel Tree, Relay for Life, Early Act Mentoring, and much more!

INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS –Mr. Jordi (805) and Mrs. Briggs (Front Office)
Plans are underway for 2010 as the BJS International Travelers plan a trip to Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The sooner you sign up, the more affordable the trip becomes for you and your family. See Mr. Jordi or Mrs. Briggs for details on this great adventure.

The purpose of this club is to participate in Pro-Life activities and promote Pro-Life awareness. Join and participate in activities such as March for Life and Catholic Days at the Capitol.

PEER LEADERS – Mrs. Gudzak (development office) & Ms. Dickinson (guidance)
Peer leaders are students whose primary purpose is to promote BJS to the community, and to welcome 8th graders and new transfers. Our main activities include 8th grade visits, Preview Day, Freshmen Bash, Orientation, and service projects to benefit Catholic Charities. All interested students are welcome.

Hey, Juniors! Do you want to make this year’s prom the best ever? Have a say in this year’s most special night by joining the prom committee. Prepare to work hard as a team and have fun with planning the theme, decorations, and favors!
Meetings: immediately after school, day will be discussed, but will be once a week until the last 2 weeks, which will be every day.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CREW – Ms. Pichardo (Chapel)
Cook and serve dinner at the Ronald McDonald House on the third Tuesday of each month. There will also be opportunities to plan for and do activities with the sick children and their families who are staying at the house.

This club is for anyone who wants to run! Beginners are welcome; come out and build your mileage!

The members will work with Ms. Pichardo and the American Cancer Society to help in the planning of the BJS Relay, spearheading the student body team-building and fundraising efforts. The Relay date is TBD

SUMMER MISSION TRIP 2010– Ms. Pichardo (Chapel)
Students will participate in a week-long experience in June of 2010. This spiritually based trip will include working on housing projects and with children of the area, or with other ministries in another city. Previous destinations have included Native American Reservations, Puerto Rico, Toronto, New Orleans, and Philadelphia. The tentative plans are to return to New Orleans this year!
