The college application process begins Freshman year; although earnest research and efforts become a priority during Junior year. By the time a student is a Senior at Bishop Snyder High School, they are expected to be responsible for their college application process or other post secondary options.
Research shows that ultimately, the students who are best prepared for the high school to college transition are those who understand their academic, social and spiritual abilities and needs best. At Bishop Snyder High School guidance we’re committed to providing an environment that fosters such.
Guidance sponsors College Night in September for Junior and Senior students and their parents. In November, a Financial Aid Night is offered for Seniors and their parents. Additionally, college admissions representatives visit Bishop Snyder High School to meet with upperclassmen. Announcements are made and posters are placed throughout campus to advise students of college representative visits. Students are required to pre-register in guidance in order to be excused from class. During Christmas, Spring or summer vacations upperclassmen are encouraged to coordinate campus tours at colleges and universities. If a college or university tour is scheduled on a school day(s), a student will be excused from class – up to three times during Junior and Senior year. The main office must be notified in advance in order to properly document the absence.
