In 2006, the Vallencourt Family established a permanent endowment to create the F.E. and Barbara Vallencourt Scholarship. Each spring, members of the Junior Class are invited to apply for consideration as a Vallencourt recipient. A committee of faculty members reviews the applications and one young man and one young woman is selected and announced at the underclassmen awards ceremony in May.

The Vallencourt scholarship was created in honor of F.E. and Barbara Vallencourt, North Florida pioneers, who, through hard work, grit and determination, built a successful business and raised a family steeped in faith, leadership and love.

If the values of hard work and respect are important to you, you may choose to donate to this fund.  As the endowment grows, so will the number of recipients who will benefit from the Vallencourt families foresight and planning.

Snyder Family Scholarship

Bishop Snyder established the Snyder Family Scholarship in 2003 to assist students from single parent families who may not otherwise be able to afford Catholic education. This fund has assisted many students each year and has generously been contributed to by many of our BJS friends and families.  If you would like to assist, please designate your tax-deductible gift to the Snyder Family Scholarship.

Nu-Trend Plastics Scholarship

Nu-Trend Plastics has generously endowed a scholarship program at BJS. The scholarship will benefit an incoming freshmen from St. Matthew’s Catholic School and St. Paul’s Riverside Catholic School.  Nu-Trend Plastics has supported many programs at BJS. We are grateful for this thoughtful and important addition to our student scholarship opportunities.

Patricia A. Tierney Scholarship

Mrs. Tierney served as the Superintendent of the Diocese of St. Augustine for many years before retiring. During her many years of service, she was actively involved in the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) which is a course of study through Notre Dame University. Upon her retirement the ACE community bestowed a scholarship in her name. Each year a young woman from a Guardian School in Jacksonville will receive a $1,000 to attend Bishop Snyder or Bishop Kenny High Schools.

Pomar Family Scholarship

The Foundations program at Bishop John J. Snyder High School has benefited many students with diagnosed learning difficulties. The Pomar Family Scholarship was established in 2012 and provides tuition assistance to families in financial need so their son or daughter may attend BJS. Students in the Foundations program, learn brain based strategies and study skills for self- determined classroom success based on their unique learning styles. For more information on the Pomar Family Scholarship, please contact the Business Office. Please call our Guidance Office to learn more about the Foundations program.
